A message for you
I'm really glad you're here.
This won't take long, and I've tried to keep it simple and honest, because it's about the most important thing I know.
Most of us carry a few quiet questions. What is the purpose of my life? Why can't I find the peace I'm looking for? Is this really all there is? You're not the only one who wonders. Nearly everyone does.
Here's something I'd love you to know. The God who made you knows you and loves you. Not from a distance. He knows your name, your story, and everything you have been through. And He wants you to know Him too.
Read this slowly, with your own name in it.
"God loved friend so much that He gave His only Son, so that friend, by trusting Him, would not be lost but would have life for ever."
a personal reading of John 3:16, NIV
If we're honest, none of us have lived the way we know we should. We've all done wrong. We've all gone our own way. The Bible has a simple word for that. It calls it sin.
And sin has put a gap between us and God. Not because He walked away from us, but because our wrong has come between us.
But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.
Isaiah 59:2 (NIV)
You might think, I'll just try harder. I'll be a better person, do good things, be kind. Those are lovely things to do. But here's the honest truth. No amount of trying can close that gap. It is simply too wide for us. We cannot reach God by being good enough.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23 (NIV)
Here is where the good news comes in. And it really is good news.
God loved you far too much to leave you on the other side of that gap. So He did the one thing only He could do. He came to us Himself, as a man, in His Son Jesus.
Jesus lived a perfect life, the life none of us could ever live. Then He went to the cross and took the punishment for all our wrong. He did it in your place, friend. He did it out of love.
But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 (NIV)
The cross became the bridge. The one thing we could never build, God built for us. Through Jesus, the way back to God is wide open.
friend, this gift is free. You cannot earn it, and you don't need to. You simply receive it, by trusting Jesus. And when you do, everything begins to change.
Instead of guilt, forgiveness. Instead of feeling far from God, being close to Him. Instead of worry about the future, peace. Instead of feeling empty, a life with real purpose. And the sure hope of being with God for ever. God is not inviting you to a religion, but He is inviting you to a relationship with Him.
Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.
John 1:12 (NIV)
You don't need clever words. God isn't waiting for a perfect prayer. He's looking at your heart.
If you'd like to trust Jesus today, you can talk to God right now. Here are some simple words you could use. Say them slowly, and mean them.
A prayer, if you'd like to pray it
Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me. I know I've done wrong and gone my own way, and I'm sorry. Thank You for dying for me and rising again. Please forgive me. Come into my life. I want to follow You from today. Amen.
If you've just prayed that, friend, welcome home. This is the start of something new, and you are not alone.
You were never meant to walk this out on your own. There are a few gentle next steps here: get in touch and tell someone, start reading the Gospel of John, or find your way to a church near you.
The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine on you and be gracious to you.
Numbers 6:24-25 (NIV)
